youtubeは62歳でこれくらいできているので、全盛期ほどではないが
なかなか以上いけているんではないかしら。
2010年9月のライブです。

内容からするとdrugのふんだんにある時代に
イメージのわいた曲でしょうね。
TODDというアルバムで聞けます。
CDで1500円くらいで売ってるのではないでしょうか。
当時としてはかなり才気ばしった類のアルバムだと思います。
最近の FATBOY SLIMのように 延々roopして盛り上がっていく曲です。
beatelsが tomrrow never knowsを60年代に書いたときのように・・・
（個人的な感想です～）

それをしっかり飯の種にかえてしまうところが、プロデュース力も抜群の
この方の腕の見せ所でしょうか！？

昔、ロック名鑑とか
いろんな本をよんで、自分の好みにあうMUSICIANのアルバムを
first albumから順番に後追いで聴いていくというのを高校生のころから
繰り返していた。
TODDちゃんで最初にリアルタイムで買ったアルバムが
アカペラ。
something to fall back onはその中の曲です。
独りですべてを高い次元で完成させたということに仰天した。
（ほかのアルバムもそうです。）
どんな音楽（洋楽）紹介本をみてもTODD RUNDGRENのことは
チラッと記載はあったように思う。洋楽ファンは名前ぐらいは知っているだろう、きっと。
今回のtourは
朝霧festivalを含めると5公演。
つつがなく終了しました。
となりにいた若い兄ちゃんと終演後いろいろお話した。
bluesゴリゴリのファンのようだが
「こういう解釈のrock bluesもかっこいい～」と言っていた。
新しいファンが増えるのはいいいことだな。
短期間の間にかなり多くの見知らぬ方々といろいろ友達になった。
音楽には吸引力というか不思議な力があるようだ。
個人的には
朝霧とlast dayの出来が良かったように思います。
彼らは今日の昼には空路に・・・・See you soon！

ツアー開始 I Saw the Light - Todd Rundgren
10月10日は朝霧で1時間のステージ。
今日10月11日から東名阪ツアー。
本日は東京クアトロです。
bluesカバーの名目のツアーだが、アクセントで日本公演向けにも
いろんな曲がはいるだろう。
オーストラリアではCan We Still be friendsが入ったようです。
この曲がくればこんな感じの演奏だろう。
間奏のジェシーとのツインギター、いつ聴いてもわりとキュンときます。（w
いつか子供と練習しよう。

ということで、おそらく日本のファン（メロディアスなものを求めるヒト）は離れただろう。
ネットがしっかり普及する前に、当時にしてはこんな実験作品をつくっていたのは凄い。
たしかappleのPCのCMにもでていたころだったろうか？
ちょっと忘れました。
中古屋さんに安い値段で沢山でまわっているが、才能ほとばしる名作だ。
すこし遅れてか聴いたが色あせない。
トッドとは関係ない個人的な回想だが、当時は
こんなのを大音量で聴いていました。

今年10月の来日記念盤のようです。
THE ESSENTIAL TODD RUNDGREN
お手軽に聴くにはいい選曲だとおもいます。
IT WOULDN'T HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCEという曲は
「所詮はおなじこと」と訳されている。
妙にうまい邦題だ。
- WHEN THE SHIT HITS THE FAN; SUNSET BLVD. -
「ファンがだまされた時には;サンセット通りへ」
これはよくわからないが、A WIZARD A True Satrからの名曲だ。
元気のないときはこの曲を大音量でかければ大丈夫・・・
のような気分になります。(あくまでも個人的に）
歌詞はなかなかハチャメチャで、凄く良いです。
クライスラー（米国車メーカー）のビルが庭に崩れ落ちてきたり、
IRAがLONDONを（おそらくbombで）hitして、スコットランドヤードが半分・・・・というような
素晴らしい!?常人では書けないものです。

この当時に
プログレのようなフュージョンのような実験的な
ねじれたPOP SONGをつくっていたのは
驚く。
UTOPIAの演奏で
曲はInitiationです。日本ではカルト教団のせいで
イニシエーションという意味合いがあんまり良くないですね。
OPEN BEGINという前向きな意味もあるのにね。
でも曲はプログレですね。若い時の力は偉大だ、何でもTRYできる。
現在TODDは62才だが、もちょっとの間はいい作品を続けてほしい。

その当時では最先端でしょう。
パンク・ロック以前の時代に凄いなと単純に思う。

Wait for me （ Dryl Hall ＆ Todd Rundgren）とりあえず一曲
ホール＆オーツという80sの洋楽ユニットはご存知の方が多いと思います。
過去にトッドは彼らのプロデューサーを勤めたことがあります。 そのダリル・ホール（ホール＆オーツの背が高くてハンサムなほう）とトッドがセッションでホール＆オーツの曲をやってます。
今回はToddの曲ではないですがいいVIDEOなので～ Wait For Me （Dryl Hall ＆ Todd Rundgren） Videoの冒頭で2人が話しながら飲んでいるのはマティーニです。
TODDはマティーニ好きです。
